David Harkins Group | Streamlining Marketing Operations
The Situation

In the professional services field managing time and billings is essential to business success. When a business services firm needed to streamline its time-keeping and billing capabilities and improve overall business operations, it turned to David Harkins Group to help streamline operations and identify and install a technology solution to help the business run more efficiently and profitably.

Our Approach

Working with the company, David Harkins Group helped identify areas of operational deficiencies and developed a plan for improvements. The goals were to refine necessary internal operational processes, and identify and deploy an integrated software solution that would allow for improved time and expense management, invoicing, revenue management and overall accounting functionality.

To achieve these goals, DHG first worked to identify business processes that were non-existent or needed improvement, and then focused on the firm's system requirements and criteria for selection to support the new processes. Once requirements were complete, DHG directed the selection process; developed new processes, procedures and business reporting; worked technology infrastructure issues, and; managed the set-up and installation of the selected solution. DHG  also developed and administered solution training to the company's staff.

Results Delivered

Within ninety-days new operational processes were in place, and a supporting technology solution was in operation. The company's billing cycle was reduced from an average of 45 days to 30 days, increasing cash flow. The improved time-keeping procedures and system improved time capture to within a 1-day delay (from a previous 10-15 day delay). Moreover the system allowed the company to evaluate the project and cost status on a daily basis thereby improving billable time revenue, reducing project cost over-runs, and providing better project reporting and management. Finally, the integration of the time-keeping, billing and account systems, afforded improved management of external project costs and allowed for more informed management decisions regarding operations and personnel utilization.
